Your Five People

MH900078761[2]The first time I heard the quote by Jim Rohn “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with” I thought to myself “uh oh!” and then I thought about my five friends and money. And I had a double uh oh.

I was surely screwed, unless I quickly found some new people to hang around. I don’t mean any disrespect to my friends or colleagues but none of them were living the life that I wanted.

In fact we were all very similar. But it’s like that isn’t it?

We tend to be around people we are comfortable with. People “like us.” This works out pretty well until you want something different.

As you start to dream and you want to zig, it can be a problem if all of your friends want to zag.

This is when change can feel really uncomfortable. Without the support and guidance of those closest to us we can often feel as if it’s not meant to be and we give up.

I am not saying it is impossible to achieve with non achievers around you. I am saying that it is a lot easier when you are surrounded by the types of people that are doing what you want to be doing. Living the way you want to be living.

It is important to have people in your life that will show you how it’s done just by doing what they do. If you don’t have that, I encourage you to seek out support in the area you want to succeed. Look for groups, coaches and friends that are already doing what you want to be doing–already achieving what you want to achieve.

If you don’t have anyone in your life that will guide and support your goals and dreams, consider a coach.
