Heart

HeartA baby boy is born in a home for unwed mothers. He lives in an orphanage and foster homes. He is raised by foster parents who felt sorry for him and he is put to work on the farm.

He isn’t adopted until his foster father dies when he is a teenager. His foster Mom isn’t so good at showing love or affection. He grows up never knowing if she is proud of him.

Its now 68 years later and this “boy” is lying in a hospital bed.

He has heart disease and he just had surgery.
This boy is my Dad.

I’m sure his diet and many years of smoking have contributed to his disease today but I can’t help feeling sad for the little boy whose heart was broken in his early years.

Being a holistic health practitioner I know that early childhood traumas and situations can affect our lives and our bodies and we can be completely unaware of the connection.

So when you notice that your life is not as you wish it would be and you find yourself looking for things to make you feel better (addictions) and you do things even though you know better, take some time to check in with yourself and ask for what you really need. Most of the time it will be something that fills your heart with joy not cholesterol.

We have all heard the stories that remind us that life is short. We forget that until something happens.

So today I'd like to remind you to take care of your heart.

Feed it well and heal the broken parts, fill it with love and then share it.

And Dad…………….I love you!

Sincerely,

Lori Barnett, HHP
